“IF I TOLD YOU A FLOWER BLOOMED IN A DARK ROOM, WOULD YOU TRUST IT?”

Lyrics from Kendrick Lamar which inspired MMHMM to create SEED; a complex encounter commenting on our digitally placed world, its potentiality, and the responsibilities that comes with it. SEED is a contemplative multilayered flora form sculpture. Invisible in darkness, the audio-visual installation comes to life as metaphorical and poetic visualisations of nature in both bloom and decay create thought-provoking imaginations of what our future beholds. As quickly as SEED seduces us with it’s mesmerising bloom, sudden glitches to decay reveal the artificial nature of the simulation, confronting us with the harsh reality... what is life without light? How much trust do we give to the alternate realities that seduce and entice us? Do you hold hope in the impossible?

In collaboration with Rachel Neser and Jasmine Grace.
